Procyon Herald - Issue 36: Cobalts Leave Alliance

Issue 36: Cobalts Leave Alliance
01-26-2007 13:00

Welcome to the Procyon Herald. We’re looking for a few good paparazzi. Topping today’s news, the Cobalts have publicly announced their withdrawal from the Alliance. General Grizzly made the announcement this afternoon, citing an increasing number of disagreements between the Cobalt leadership and the policies of Admiral Mank of the Scorpions. Grizzly made a point of adding that while the Cobalt Squadron would no longer be a part of the Alliance, they hoped to maintain cordial relations with most of their former brothers-in-arms.

Over the past few days, the Alliance had begun a process of renewal, inviting the opinions of outside consultants, revisiting their original Charter and debating the future of the organization. We’ll continue to keep you posted on this breaking news as it continues to unfold.

In other news, the server has been relatively quiet of late, largely due to the enforced time-out from system battles. According to some, this is not necessarily a bad thing, as the heated quarrels ignited by the incandescent war between the Brigantines and the Alliance had reached a feverish pitch, and the flames were getting out of control. This weekend will mark the first Saturday since January 6 that a system battle does not take place. Asked how he intends to spend his weekend, Server Admin Sion replied “I imagine I’ll spend some time at the roulette tables aboard the Luxury Liner Hawaii, followed by a spa on Planet Baden Baden. On Sunday, I’ll try to take in the Pansies’ practice on Pittsburgh, and will probably do some reading before Zephyr hosts a Sunday night dinner party for the admins, to celebrate the website’s 1-year birthday. No, you can’t come.”

The lack of system battles, however, hasn’t dampened the ardor of several new clans, eager to make their place on the server alongside Mad_squirrel. Jasta Eleven pilots continue to flit about the outer systems in search of larger prey. The Jastas have a habit of painting a small skull-and-crossbones on their ship for every VHF they blast from the skies, and already, with 47 confirmed kills, Schultzie’s Banshee is running out of available space for the markers. Meanwhile, newly recruited Jasta W.A.D.T.D. was seen battling several VHFs in Gamma yesterday, flying a Patriot. Among the VHFs was

Also new to the server are the Scientologists, who wear the Xenu tag and, when not busy jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey’s furniture like gorillas off their meds, can often be seen in such films as Risky Business, Days of Thunder, Top Gun, Mission Impossible, Rain Man, and Born on the Fourth of July. You could suggest they are gay, but they would in all likelihood sue you if you did.

Meanwhile, in business news, the Bounty Hunters Guild has accepted an open contract on the dreaded Rogue gang-leader Tisko “don’t-call-me-Chindi”, of emoticon fame. As the contract is ‘open’, the first player – licensed bounty hunter or otherwise - to provide screen shot proof of Tisko’s demise will receive the bounty of a cool 1 million credits. The reward, offered by Grand Admiral Thrawn, was allegedly offered when Thrawn caught the rogue making out with the Grand Admiral’s sister in the family farm hayloft. Not good.

Finally, the Procyon Herald recently commissioned a poll to ascertain if there could be a consensus to allow regens to be used without restriction, so as to put everyone on an even playing field and avoid accusations of dishonourable conduct and/or cowardice. The results were hardly surprising. Less than 24-hours into the poll, the votes are practically split down the middle, with a slight edge in favour of the “no” camp. It seems regens will continue to be anathema to the sensibilities of Procyon pilots for the foreseeable future. Regardless, woe betide the freelancer foolish enough to come between me and my beer regens!

Thanks for tuning into this edition of the Herald. This is war correspondent Ravenwood, signing off.

the cobalts and wraiths are the future of procyon's good guys, and are free from any ill-association that might prevent them excelling in their roles.
