Server F.A.Q.

Q: I was banned from the server!
A: Use the Contact Us page to send a ban appeal. Do not make a thread on the forum asking to be unbanned. Be sure to include the player names you used while on the server, and a rough approximation of when you were banned if possible.

Q: Who are the server administrators, and what exactly do they do?
A: More or less:
- Zephyr: Server's owner. Manages the server's hardware/software, cheat detection, and modifications.
- Reaper: Our PHP mill. Is responsible for bringing you this site, the assorted goodies contained within, and new server commands and features.
- Sion: Writes most of the pretty text and articles contained on the site. Manages payouts for owned systems.
- Zephon: Handles stuff ingame, weeds out cheaters and troublemakers, and goes at things ninja style.

Q: Can I be an admin?
A: No, never. Four is a good number, a lucky number. A number that will in all likelyhood never increase, though it may decrease should one of us meet our untimely demise at the enraged bumper of a speeding BMW. Note that if we ever do decide to recruit a fifth admin, we will offer them the position -- not the other way around.

Q: Will Procyon ever have any server police?
A: No.

Q: Why not?
A: In this context, 'server police' implies a group that has limited moderation/administrative power, and we're of the opinion that the four of us can handle things just fine. All players are welcome and encouraged to report problems (in this case cheats/racism/sexual harassment and such) with other players, but we really don't want to create a goof-ball vigilante group of concerned citizens. That said, we have nothing against clans who's goal is to act as a 'police force' in the sense that they help people and attack 'bad' players.

Anyone and everyone is free (and encouraged) to report any problems with the server that might crop up, as well as report any instances of cheating or rule breaking. Please use the 'contact us' link on the navbar to report such things.

Q: I can't hurt anyone in New York, what gives?
A: If you are under level eighteen, you will be unable to injure, or be injured by any other player while in New York. Once you're over the rank of eighteen however, you are considered fair game.

Q: Somebody killed me!
A: We're sorry, really. This is a PvP enabled server, and indeed one that was created for the purpose of being PvP oriented.

Q: Someone dock camped me!
A: Procyon has FLHook's anti dock camping functionality enabled. This grants players roughly one extra second of extra invulnerability after launching, which is more than enough time to begin evasive maneuvers without taking damage.

Q: Someone cheated!
A: Use the contact form (via the 'contact us' link on the navbar) to let us know. Be sure to include the person's name, the time, date, location, and the type of cheat you suspect.

Q: I have a problem, and there aren't any admins on!
A: Again, use the contact form. Even if none of us are on the server itself, chances are you'll get a response within ten minutes, though ban appeals may take longer as they are always handled by Zephyr.

Q: Will my characters ever be deleted due to inactivity?
A: If your character has been inactive for more than six months, there is a possibility that you may lose it when we clean our player database.

Q: Will you be making Paralyzer missiles or the higher level Graviton and Molecular shields available as loot or for sale?
A: No. We do not feel that any of these items are properly balanced, and were removed from the game for a good reason.

Q: Will there ever be any server events?
A: Yes. Check the Server Events page for more information on future and past events.

Q: I have a clan on Procyon, can we have a private clan board on the Procyon forum?
A: Yes. It will be the duty of the clan's leader to maintain them, and to grant appropriate access to clan members. To get a clan board set up, submit a support ticket to the Contact system with the clan leader's forum account name. A word of warning however: if after one month there is no activity on a given clan board it may be deleted. We will attempt to contact the clan leader before doing this.

Q: Can clans claim systems?
A: Yes. Click the Clan Database and System Ownership links on the navigation bar to enter the System Claiming portion of the site.

Q: Can I bring my clan to Procyon/Can I create a clan on Procyon?
A: Yes. Clans of all types are welcome.

Q: What does it mean when a player is shown as being in the "???" system?
A: For a player, this means they are sitting in the "select character" screen (F1->Select New Character.) This does not mean that:

• They are in one of the Unknown systems
• They are using a mod to gain access to a system not on the server (this is impossible!)
• They are an admin

Administrators (on this server) are always listed in the system "????" - this is a modification we have made to the server which allows us to move around completely unnoticed. This does not mean we are in the F1 screen, so don't hesitate to message us if you need to.

Q: The FL Global Server is down, how do I connect to Procyon?
A: There are three ways to connect to Procyon "manually'.

1: The best, and easiest solution is to download and install ProcyonHook from the downloads page - in addition to a large number of assorted enhancements, ProcyonHook automatically adds Procyon to the LAN games list.

2. Go to your Freelancer\Exe folder and start "fldirectip.hta" (by double clicking on it). For 'IP Address' fill in: 'proc.no-ip.org' (without the quotes) and for port fill in '2302'. Then start up Freelancer, go to Multiplayer -> LAN. The server should then appear there.

3. Right click on your Freelancer shortcut (usually on your desktop) and click on properties. (If you do not have a shortcut to the game, create a new one.) In the new window that pops up look for "Target" behind that there is a text box which will contain something like:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe"

Behind this add "-sproc.no-ip.org:2302" (without the quotes). It should look like this, assuming Freelancer was installed to the default location:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -sproc.no-ip.org:2302
(note the space between ".exe" and "-s.....")
Click ok and launch the game, go to Multiplayer -> LAN and the server should be there.

Q: The ProcyonHook configuration tool does not start.
A: Please ensure that you have the latest version of the .NET Framework installed on your computer. The .NET Framework can be downloaded here.

Q: The ProcyonHook updater does not start.
A: Please ensure that you have the latest version of the .NET Framework installed on your computer. The .NET Framework can be downloaded here.

Q: None of ProcyonHook's features work.
A: Open Dacom.INI (located in \Freelancer\EXE\), and ensure that there is a line reading "ProcyonHook.DLL" in the [Libraries] section. If the line does not exist, create it or re-run the ProcyonHook installer.

Q: ProcyonHook keeps kicking me, and is telling me that my INI files could not be validated.
A: ProcyonHook scans all of Freelancer's INI files (and some non-INIs) to ensure that no changes have been made to them. Disable any mods you may have activated in Freelancer Mod Manger.

If you've installed any unofficial third-party patches such as the Freelancer SDK, or the Freelancer QuickFix Patch you will need to either reinstall the game or download the Vanilla INI pack our downloads page to restore your copy of Freelancer to an unaltered state.

Q: I'm using ProcyonHook, how do I get to Omicron Minor?
A: Stick to the right side of the Alpha Unknown system.
